The Alaska
Head Start Association is a membership organization representing
Head Start parents, staff, directors and friends, whose purpose
is to support and advocate for children and families. AHSA was
officially incorporated in August of 1995. The Association is
led by a Board of Directors. The Board is made up of 15 members
elected from the four affiliate groups of the
Association—Parents, Staff, Directors and Friends. Each Board
member serves a two-year term. Terms are staggered so that
during each year only half the board sears are up for election.
Members are also offered opportunities to serve on various
committees. Current standing committees are Advocacy &
Networking, Budget & Resources, Bylaws, and Training. The
membership year is November 1-October 31.
