The Idaho Head Start Association is a private
non-profit organization that represents 13 Idaho Head Start
programs and 4,126 children. It is governed by a membership of
52 voting representatives. The 12 member Board of Directors is
elected from the general membership. Each Head Start grantee may
have up to four voting members represented. The four voting
members from each program include one director, one staff
member, and one parent member. The fourth member is determined
at the local grantee level and is recognized as a friend
representative.
The Mission: "To advocate for
the children and families of Idaho by promoting and
strengthening all Idaho Head Start Programs."
The members focus on current issues that
affect Idaho Head Start and families and staff by belonging to
committees. During the IHSA meetings members caucus by
affiliate. The Idaho Head Start Association meets formally,
three times a year.
